Can an air purifier be repaired if the UV bulb stops working?

Yes—most whole-house UV air purifiers can be repaired by replacing the failed UV bulb (lamp). The most common cause is a lamp reaching end-of-life, which stops the UV sanitizing function even though airflow continues. A technician will also check the power module/ballast, wiring, and safety interlocks. American Vintage Home services and maintains whole-home filtration and purification systems, including RGF Environmental’s Reme Halo units, even if we didn’t install them. We service homes across Chicago’s North Shore, including many Lincolnwood-area residences.

When a UV lamp stops working, a pro will typically:

 • Verify power, door interlock, and fuse or GFCI status
 • Test the ballast/power module and wiring continuity
 • Install the correct OEM lamp and reset service indicators

Turn off power at the switch or breaker before accessing the unit and schedule service to ensure the right lamp and safe installation.
Updated: 2026-04-02
Need help in Lincolnwood, IL? Call (847) 440-5642 or book online.
